easySim Australia plans run on Optus. Optus is one of Australia's three main mobile network operators alongside Telstra and Vodafone Australia. It provides 4G and 5G connectivity across supported coverage areas including major cities, regional centres and coastal areas.

Coverage is available in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, Hobart, Darwin, Canberra and the Gold Coast, along with many regional and coastal areas.

Coverage in remote outback regions, very isolated rural areas and some national parks may be limited or unavailable. This applies to all Australian mobile networks in these locations. If connectivity in a specific remote area is critical to your trip, checking the Optus coverage map before purchasing is recommended.

No. easySim does not currently offer an unlimited data plan for Australia. Fixed-data plans are available with a range of data allowances and validity periods. These plans use your purchased data allowance without a daily unlimited-data threshold.

Yes. WhatsApp works fully over the easySim mobile data connection in Australia. Calls, messages, voice notes and media sent via WhatsApp all use your data allowance rather than your primary SIM's call or SMS plan. Your primary SIM remains in your phone for standard calls and texts on your home number throughout your trip.

Yes. Hotspot and tethering are supported on all easySim Australia plans. You can share your mobile data connection with a laptop, tablet or another device. Four things worth knowing before purchasing:

Device compatibility. Your phone must support eSIM and must not be carrier-locked to a single network. Check compatibility before purchasing.

Data-only plans. easySim Australia plans do not include voice calls or a local Australian number. If you need an Australian number for incoming calls, a local physical SIM with voice capability is the appropriate option.

No unlimited option. easySim does not currently offer unlimited data for Australia. Fixed-data plans are available with a range of data allowances and validity periods.

Remote area coverage. easySim Australia runs on Optus. In remote outback areas, national parks and very isolated locations, Optus coverage may be limited — as it is with all Australian networks in these areas.

No. easySim Australia plans are data-only and do not include voice calls or SMS. Your primary SIM remains active for calls and messages while easySim provides mobile data — allowing you to use WhatsApp, FaceTime, iMessage and similar apps freely throughout your trip.

Yes. Purchasing and installing the eSIM before your trip does not start your data allowance. Your bundle begins when the eSIM first connects to the Optus network in Australia, so you can install at home and arrive knowing your data is ready without any additional steps at the airport.

On most dual-SIM compatible phones, your home SIM remains active for calls and messages while easySim provides mobile data. This means you can keep your usual number available for incoming calls and texts while using easySim for mobile data.

Charges from your home provider for calls or SMS made abroad may still apply — check your home network's roaming terms before travelling.

Confirm your device supports eSIM before purchasing.

Yes. When you arrive in Australia, enable Data Roaming for the easySim line and set easySim as your Mobile Data SIM. To avoid unexpected data charges from your home network, turn Data Roaming off on your primary SIM separately. Calls and SMS through your home SIM continue to work independently of the data roaming setting.

Check the following first:

• Your easySim eSIM line is switched on.

• Data Roaming is enabled for the easySim line.

• easySim is set as your Mobile Data SIM.

• Your device supports eSIM and is carrier unlocked.
