A Japan travel eSIM is a digital SIM that allows you to access mobile data in Japan without inserting or swapping a physical SIM card.
Instead of buying a physical SIM after you arrive or using your home network for data roaming, you can buy your Japan eSIM online, install it before you travel and connect to mobile data when you arrive.

Choose a fixed data bundle to suit the length of your trip and expected usage. If you need more data while travelling, you can add another Japan bundle to your existing easySim without installing a new eSIM.
easySim Japan plans are data-only, so you can use apps such as WhatsApp, FaceTime, iMessage and Google Maps over mobile data while keeping your primary SIM available for calls and SMS if required - please check your network provider’s roaming charges if you intend to use your primary SIM for calls and SMS
easySim Japan data bundles use the KDDI network with 4G and 5G speeds available.
Coverage and speeds can vary depending on your location, device and local network conditions.
Once you arrive in Japan, make sure your easySim is selected for Mobile Data and Data Roaming is switched on for the easySim line.
Install your Japan eSIM before travelling while you have a reliable internet connection. Installing the eSIM does not start your Japan data bundle before you reach the destination.
When you arrive in Japan, turn on your easySim line, enable Data Roaming for the eSIM and select easySim for Mobile Data in your phone settings.
Your device must support eSIM technology and must not be locked to another mobile network. You can check compatibility before purchasing and follow the dedicated easySim installation guide for your device.
If you keep your primary SIM active for calls or SMS, check your home provider’s roaming charges. If you do not need your primary line while travelling, switching it off can help avoid unexpected roaming fees.
